POVERTY REDUCTION
At World Partnership for Development (WPD), we believe that everyone deserves a chance to live a decent life. Poverty is a barrier to education, health, and well-being, and our work focuses on empowering communities, creating opportunities, and improving livelihoods.
Here’s what we will do:
-
Support Income-Generating Activities
-
Train community members in small businesses, farming, and crafts.
-
Provide start-up tools, materials, or microloans to boost income.
Example: A family can start a small poultry business to earn regular income.
-
-
Promote Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
-
Help farmers improve productivity through modern and climate-smart farming.
-
Ensure families can grow enough nutritious food for themselves and to sell.
Example: Teaching farmers to grow vegetables all year round using irrigation.
-
-
Education and Skills Development
-
Support access to education for children and youth.
-
Provide vocational training for youth and adults to gain employable skills.
Example: Training young people in tailoring, carpentry, or IT skills to secure jobs.
-
-
Support Access to Basic Needs
-
Help families access clean water, housing, and essential health services.
-
Provide safety nets for the most vulnerable during crises.
Example: Supplying water filters to communities to prevent waterborne diseases.
-
-
Promote Financial Literacy and Savings
-
Teach families how to manage money, save, and plan for the future.
-
Support the formation of savings and cooperative groups.
Example: A group of women pooling savings to start small businesses together.
-
-
Empower Women and Youth
-
Encourage women and youth to take part in economic activities and decision-making.
-
Support programs that reduce inequality and increase opportunities.
Example: Training young women in handicrafts and helping them sell products in local markets.
-
-
Community Mobilization and Advocacy
-
Engage communities in planning and implementing development projects.
-
Advocate for policies that reduce poverty and promote equality.
Example: Community meetings to identify challenges and co-create solutions for local development.
-
Our Vision in Poverty Reduction:
WPD aims to create self-reliant communities where families can earn a stable income, access essential services, and improve their quality of life, breaking the cycle of poverty for generations to come.
